KitMel works out your numbers in your browser. Your salary, loans and results stay on your device. We collect two things: visit counts through Cloudflare Web Analytics, so we can see which pages people use, and error reports through Sentry, so we can fix what breaks.
In short
- Your numbers never leave your device. We don't see your salary, loan details, results or settings.
- There's no account: settings and Recent are saved only in this browser.
- We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics. It sets no cookies and is told which pages were opened, but not the numbers you typed.
- When something breaks, the website and the phone app send an error report to Sentry: what went wrong and where, never your numbers.
- If you send us feedback, we get only what you write in the form.
- We don't sell data or show ads.
1. What stays in your browser
Every calculation runs in your browser. The amounts you enter and the results you get are never sent to us or to anyone else.
To remember your choices, KitMel saves two things in your browser's storage:
- Your settings: default salary, exchange rate, currency, display, language and number options.
- Recent: your last calculations, so you can open them again.
This data stays in this browser on this device. We can't see it, and it isn't backed up. You can delete it at any time in Settings, or by clearing your browser's data for this site.
2. What Cloudflare Web Analytics counts
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a service from Cloudflare, to understand how KitMel is used: which calculators people open, how they find us, and how fast pages load. When you open a page, your browser sends Cloudflare:
- The page you opened and the page that linked you to it, without the part of the address that holds your numbers. Cloudflare doesn't record that part.
- Your browser, operating system and type of device.
- Your country, worked out from your IP address. Cloudflare doesn't use your IP address to follow you.
- How long the page took to load and to respond.
Cloudflare Web Analytics sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser, so it can't tell a returning visitor from a new one, or follow you to other sites. We see only totals and trends. Cloudflare handles this data under its own privacy policy and may process it on servers outside Cambodia.
3. Error reports
When something goes wrong (a page fails to load, a file can't be made, a service we rely on stops answering), the website and the phone app send a report to Sentry, a service that collects errors so we can fix them. A report holds:
- What went wrong and where in our code it happened.
- The page or screen you were on, without the numbers you typed, and the few pages before it.
- Your browser or phone model, operating system and the app's version.
- A reference code, the one an error page shows you, so we can find the report if you write to us.
A report never holds the amounts you enter, your results, your settings, what you write in Feedback or your IP address. Sentry handles reports under its own privacy policy, may process them on servers outside Cambodia, and keeps them for up to 90 days.
4. When you send feedback
If you send us a message from Feedback, we receive what you write, the topic you picked, the page you were on and the app version. If you add an email address or Telegram username, we use it only to reply to you.
When you open the feedback form, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a person, not a program, is sending it. To do that it reads details about your browser and device, which Cloudflare handles under its own privacy policy. It isn't loaded anywhere else on KitMel.
To stop the form being misused, we keep a one-way code made from your IP address (never the address itself) and delete it after 30 days or, if it was banned for abuse, 30 days after the ban ends.
We keep feedback only as long as we need it to answer you and improve KitMel, and we don't share it with anyone else.
5. What we never collect
- Your name, phone number or ID card number: there's nothing to sign up for.
- The amounts you type, your results or your Recent list.
- Payment details: KitMel is free.
We don't sell or rent data to anyone, and we don't show ads.
6. Your choices
- Use a content blocker: KitMel works the same with Cloudflare Web Analytics or Sentry blocked.
- Use a private window: your settings and Recent are deleted when you close it.
- Delete your settings and Recent at any time in Settings.
Because we don't know who you are, we can't look up or delete analytics data or error reports about you in particular. If you have a question about your data, contact us.
7. Links to other sites
Some pages link to other sites, such as the sources under each FAQ answer and the news on Home. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we don't control what they collect.
8. The KitMel app for iPhone and Android
The KitMel app works like this website, but without visit counts, cookies or Turnstile. The only thing it sends is an error report when something breaks (see Error reports):
- Calculations run on your phone. The amounts you enter and your results are never sent to us or to anyone else.
- Your settings are saved only on your phone. Reset them in the app's Settings, or delete the app to remove them.
- When you share a result, your phone's share sheet sends it only where you choose.
- News links open the other site inside the app. That site's own privacy policy applies.
The app asks for no permissions: no location, camera, contacts or notifications.
9. Children
KitMel is made for working adults. It's not aimed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect anything about them.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If we ever start collecting something new about you, we'll say so in the app before it starts.
